selected chemical and biological process of removal of the sulphur were studied and the necessary details for the process development were worked out using software Superpro design process simulator . The development of several biological and other treatment process has been arrived after the study of several process data bank of commercial process as out lined in the earlier chapter. The capital cost, operational and maintenance cost for the proposed processes as worked out in the present study were also made possible by the use of software SuperPro design

The major problem in the use of biogas for energy with power generation is the presence of H2S which leads to problems of corrosion in the power generation unit. In addition combustion of H2S along with biogas results into production of SO2 which causes severe environment problems such as acid rain

Various research activities for developing new processes and search for inovative and economical process have led to the development new biological desulphurization processes employing special microbial cultures for oxidizing reduced form of sulphur through biochemical mechanisms. These microorganisms utilize sulfur and also the elemental sulphur is recovered. Only few micobial desulphurization processes reported in literature (39,42).

Many processes have been developed, before combustion or after combustion for desulfurization of fuel gas. Some pre- treatments process are needed before desulfurization after combustion processes can be classified mainly into physico-chemical, microbial or biological processes and combination of microbial and physico-chemical processes

This chapter give introduction to fuel from biomass .For the tropical countries like India and Brazil, alternative sources of independent small scale energy production, can help in overcoming acute shortage of energy, especially in rural areas, in contrast to the centralized energy production for the urban mass . There is underdevelopment in rural area because of energy shortage, problem of transport of electrical energy form centralised power sector. Hence more research is needed to make fuel from biomas, that can be obtained by bioconversion process, thermo gasification and Pyrolisis. Biogas production technology which were considered old one , world can be modernized and can exploit available conditions of Brasil and India with favourable tropical climatic conditions.
